Transport

Coastal Accessible Transport (CATS) and others have concluded a formal agreement with the District Council for the provision of public transport services. The agreement will run for five years. The services, named "Connecting Communities" include "demand responsive transport" (or "dial a ride") and a community car service.

All services can be reached by dialling 01728 635 938 or via www.suffolkonboard.com/cc. Call handlers will be able to advise on onward connections.

Concessionary fares/bus passes are acceptable on some services.

CATS operates Connecting Communities 6 days a week (Mon to Saturday) from 7am to 7pm and has continued to operate through the two lockdowns for essential journey’s on a demand responsive basis.  Great Glenham is served by both our East and West Service which means that residents can either travel to Saxmundham or Framlingham for shopping or onward public transport connections  at Saxmundham or Campsea Ashe.

The service runs on a demand basis so residents would have to call and book their journey in advance on 01728 830516, this can be done two weeks prior to travel until 1hr before travel but the earlier it is booked the more chance we have of meeting the requested journey and times.  Bookings can be cancelled up to one day before travel, cancellation on the day does incur a cancellation charge as we cannot re-sell that seat

Our drivers are happy to help residents with their shopping on and off the vehicle, if required we can do a pick up from their door, all vehicles are fitted with a tail lift so are accessible to all.

Our buses follow strict social distancing and cleaning routines so passenger can travel with the knowledge they are in safe hands.

Railway Services

The nearest railway stations are at Saxmundham and Campsea Ashe (the Wickham Market halt) on the East Suffolk Line.
