I’m contacting you on behalf of Suffolk County Council with the latest news from their innovative project A Smarter Suffolk.
Earlier this year, we developed a toolkit which includes ready-to-use communications that we would be grateful to you to share with your communities, colleagues and others, to help us build awareness of the county’s role in developing cutting-edge technology.
A Smarter Suffolk is a project which is using innovative SMART technology to look at ways to improve the quality of Suffolk residents’ lives, by revolutionising some of the services the council deliver across urban, rural and coastal areas. Sensors have been installed to existing lighting infrastructure to collect data that will inform services such as maintenance interventions such as gully cleansing and gritting in winter; adapting street light levels to ensure the right light is in the right place at the right time; monitoring air quality; and reviewing how to support council services such as adult and social care.
The £4.4m research project, funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) through the £22.9m ADEPT SMART Places Live Labs programme has been developed to help transform the use of digital innovation and smart data use in the highways sector. The Live Labs programme includes eight authorities across the country, with Suffolk being one of the largest projects.
The most recent addition to the toolkit is a short video, which we’d be grateful to you to share across your comms channels. This can be viewed and downloaded here.
Do let me know if you have any questions on this.
Kind Regards,
Katie Raby
